About the owner
Josh Davis
owner/lead trainer
Josh has spent his entire 35 years around dogs. At 18 years of age, he moved out on his own and immediately adopted a dog. He worked various jobs to care for himself and his dog such as kennel assistant and veterinarian technician. Before long he was fostering dogs working to train and socialize them to enable them to be adopted by families to keep them from being euthanized. Over the next 6 years he rehabilitated and adopted out over 60 dogs to loving and caring homes. In 2007, Josh was diagnosed with stage 3+ colon cancer and literally fought for his life to get well. A large part of that process was his affinity for his dogs and learning a first hand understanding of the therapeutic value of a canine companion. After the cancer was in remission in June of 2008, he started his quest of hiking the entire Appalachian trail from Maine to Georgia. Of course true to form, he took with him a dog that a friend couldn’t handle to walk with him. He finished all 2,280 miles of the trail in early January 2009 with a wonderfully behaved and socialized dog, Cheyenne.
In 2010, Josh started a formal dog training career with a six month apprenticeship. While there, he assisted with detection dog training and tactical police and military dog bite work training. With a former trainer that he worked for, Josh was primarily responsible for leading group classes of up to 20 handlers and their dogs. In various training environments, Josh has worked individually with well over 100 dogs in the last several years.
Josh’s experience, love of dogs, combined with his natural affinity with them leaves him uniquely qualified to perform this work. He is uniquely fluent in “dog language” and his ability to communicate with people enthusiastically is sure to lead to a positive experience for both dogs and people.
